National Skills Recognition System

Panasonic's commitment to People Development and Contribution to Society

The Panasonic group of companies has been collaborating with Workforce Development Agency (WDA), Singapore on the implementation of the National Skills Recognition Systemopens new window Program for the Consumer Electronics Industry, with strong support form the Ministry of Manpower, the Ministry of Trade and Industry and National Trade Union Congress (NTUC). This is aligned to Panasonic's corporate philosophy of continuous manpower development and contribution to the society's progress and development.

PRTC's mission and role

Panasonic Asia Pacific Pte Ltd - Panasonic Regional Training Center, as the Asia and Oceania region training center, has been awarded the Approved Assessment Centre (AAC)opens new window and Approved Training Centre (ATC)opens new window status by WDA.

With these awards, PRTC strive to fulfill her mission and objective "to contribute to the realization of Panasonic as a global enterprise through human resource development, that is, to refine the heart and enhance skills and technology."

NSRS for the Consumer Electronics Industry

Through the Industry Skills Standards Committeeopens new window and assistance from WDA, the functional map for the Consumer Electronics Industry was developed through setting of work performance standards, identifying job competencies for performance, establishing the skills standards and the assessment criteria for skills acquisition.

To date, the functional map for the Consumer Electronics Industry and twenty skills standards as well as the respective on-the-job training (OJT) blueprints have been developed. The OJT blueprint outlines a structured and systematic approach to learning, to be complemented with guided demonstration and instructions from supervisory staff at the workplace, emphasizing skills practice, independent learning and follow-up. Thus, the OJT blueprintopens new window will allow companies in the industry to implement the skills standards at their workplace quickly and effectively.
