Compact LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT Lens with 12x Optical Zoom
A 12x optical zoom camera that fits in the palm of your hand – that's the FZ8. The FZ8 makes telephoto shooting easy with features like variable zoom speed (2 levels) for detailed framing, and a function that returns the zoom to its last set position next time you turn the camera on. For times when you want even more zoom power, the Extra Optical Zoom feature extends zooming to as much as 18x in 3-megapixel resolution mode.
Intelligent ISO Control - No More Motion Blur
Featured in the FZ8, Intelligent ISO Control automatically raises the ISO and shutter speed settings if the subject is moving, so you get clear, crisp shots with no motion blur. It also lets you manually set the sensitivity to as high as ISO 1250 at full resolution.
Bright, High-resolution LCD and EVF
In addition to the 207,000-pixel 2.5-inch LCD, the FZ8 features a 188,000-pixel 0.44-inch electronic viewfinder, which is larger than that of the previous model. Using either the LCD or EVF, you can manually adjust the focus or check the details in your shot more comfortably.
Manual Control with Joystick Ease
Controlling the joystick with your thumb, you can adjust the exposure and focus manually without removing your hand from the grip. Movable MF Area: When using manual focus, you can enlarge a part of the image to assist in focusing. You can also use the joystick to move the enlarged display area anywhere you wish in the frame. Selectable AF Points: In 1-point AF (normal/high-speed) or Spot AF mode, the auto-focusing area can be chosen from as many as 11 points with the joystick or cursor button according to your intended composition. Various group area patterns can also be selected in Multi-point AF mode.
