Panasonic's unique technology for low power consumption allows the TOUGHBOOK to give users a mobile environment for extended-time operation that is ideal for business trips.

The Y5 model can be operated for up to 8 hours, thanks to a newly developed high-capacity battery, a power-saving CPU using Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology, a low-voltage hard disk, and a bright, power-saving LCD.

New technology adopting a proprietary light guide plate, high reflector, and high- efficiency reflection sheet increases LCD brightness but uses only about 70% of the power of an ordinary LCD panel.

The CPU maintains high performance and operates for an extended time even when the PC is battery driven. This 667-MHz high- performance processor has an operating clock of , 1.66GHz and a 2-MB secondary cache memory.

The wireless switch saves power by allowing you to turn it on and off as needed. It can also be set to turn WWAN, WLAN or Bluetooth™, systems on and off at the same time. This is convenient for the kind of on/off control required in hospitals, airports, etc.
