Panasonic's original chip-set processes high-resolution 1080p video signals from Blu-ray Discs while maintaining the original 1920 x 1080 resolution without down-converting.

The processor converts SD broadcasts and DVD video signals to high-resolution 1080p video signals to render crystal-clear pictures optimised for large-screen display. This is how VIERA renders realistic images with enhanced three-dimensional effects.

With the VIERA IPS LCD panel, colours appear rich and vivid even when viewed from a sharp angle. Everyone in the room gets a great view. The extra-wide viewing angle makes VIERA perfect when enjoying a movie with the whole family or when stretching out on the sofa all by yourself.

VIERA adjusts the intensity of the backlight and contrast for each scene. In dark scenes, it reduces the intensity of the backlight to about 1/7 to reproduce crisper blacks. VIERA also increases the steps of gradation up to four times on the white end of the scale for bright areas, or on the black end for dark areas. This prevents blocked shadows and expresses delicate level differences in black.

Afterimages (hold time) in moving pictures have been reduced by about 50% compared with our previous model (LX30). This minimizes blurriness and provides smoother, sharper reproduction of fast-moving images. VIERA LCD is ideal for viewing action movies or watching baseball games, football games, and broadcasts of other sports events.
