MEGA O.I.S. + High Sensitivity Mode* (Max. ISO 1600)

Blurred images have two main causes. One is hand-shake, and the other is subject movement. Since the majority of blurry images are due to hand-shake, MEGA O.I.S. is effective in most shooting situations, such as dimly lit indoor shots, nighttime shots, or macro shots. However, when taking indoor shots of moving subjects, like children or pets, the movement of the subject tends to cause blurring. For this, you can use High Sensitivity Mode to prevent hazy motion effects and get great photos every time. By adding High Sensitivity mode to MEGA O.I.S., LUMIX has further expanded your range of crisp, clear photo expression.

MEGA O.I.S. - The New Standard in Digital Camera Performance

Jitter from shaky hands is far and away the biggest single cause of blurry shots. LUMIX cameras help solve this problem with advanced MEGA O.I.S. (optical image stabilizer) technology. A built-in gyrosensor detects any hand-shake and a signal is relayed to a high-precision control circuit built into the Venus Engine Plus, which instantly calculates the compensation needed. A linear motor then shifts the O.I.S. lens as necessary to guide incoming light from the image straight to the CCD.
Panasonic's highly evolved Venus Engine Plus makes this process even faster and more accurate. This helps extend the MEGA O.I.S. correction range all the way to more than 3 steps below (slower than) the shutter speed that is generally considered to be the limit for handheld shooting, which is calculated by the formula "1/focal length (1 divided by the focal length)." In addition to giving you clear, sharp shots, MEGA O.I.S. also expands your shooting possibilities.

Two Image Stabilization Modes to Meet Different Shooting Needs

The FX01 has two different O.I.S. modes to meet different shooting needs. This image stabilization system is a Panasonic original. It was developed to help compensate for camera movement, but its main goal is to achieve the highest possible image quality in the resulting photo. MEGA O.I.S. helps you get the clearest shots possible.

Compensates for jitter all the time.
Mode 1

In this mode, image stabilization is continuously on. It helps you to compose shots in the LCD monitor and to see the focusing condition more clearly.

More definitive correction for higher quality image.
Mode 2

This image stabilization mode, a Panasonic original, was developed to help you obtain some of the clearest photographs possible, despite unintentional hand-shake. It corrects the image the moment you press the shutter button, providing maximum compensation in all directions. Since the light is received near the center of the lens, this mode gives you clearer, sharper pictures and higher resolution.

High Sensitivity Mode* (Max. ISO 1600) for Preventing Blurry Shots from Moving Subjectsnew

The new High Sensitivity Mode in the FX01 lets you shoot at a maximum ISO setting of 1600. This is excellent for capturing moving subjects, such as children and pets indoors, which are often spoiled by the movement of the subject itself. Thus, both the major causes of blurred pictures are compensated by MEGA O.I.S. and the High Sensitivity Mode. MEGA O.I.S. suppresses the effects of hand-shake, and the High Sensitivity Mode raises the sensitivity and increases the shutter speed to minimize blurring caused by the movement of the subject itself, to help you take clear, beautiful pictures in various situations. The High Sensitivity Mode is made possible by the pixel-mixed readout method of the new CCD. The picture quality is good enough for printing at the ordinary 4" x 6" (10 x 15 cm) size.

*Resolution significantly decreases in High Sensitivity Mode.

28mm wide angle lens (MEGA O.I.S. + Party Mode)

Fit everyone into the picture!
And get crisp, clear shots even when shooting indoors.

The FX01 is ideal for party photos. MEGA O.I.S. lets you catch crisp, clear shots even in dimly lit party rooms, and the 28mm wide angle lens helps to make sure that everyone fits into the shot, even in places like a small restaurant. The FX01's Party mode gives the image a warm atmosphere to preserve the fun mood forever.
