Venus Engine Plus

Image Processing LSI with Low Energy Consumption

The DMC-FX01 lets you click off up to 320 photos thanks to the Venus Engine Plus LSI. It provides high-performance image processing while consuming only 70% energy compared with the Venus Engine II.

Battery life differs depending on the conditions in which the battery is stored or used. The number of recordable pictures varies depending on the recording interval time. If the recording interval time becomes longer, the number of recordable pictures decreases.

High Image Quality

In many digital cameras, the LSI - the brain of the camera - generates the luminance signal from only the green component of the incoming light. The Venus Engine Plus LSI generates this signal from the red and blue components as well as the green. This rich luminance signal information boosts diagonal resolution by around 50% to produce superb images. By also adjusting the amount of noise reduction depending on the brightness of the subject, the DMC-FX01 fully preserves image resolution in bright areas and reduces noise in darker areas to as much as one-third that of previous levels*.

Super-Fast Shutter Response

Multi-task image processing in the Venus Engine Plus LSI has accelerated response speed, giving you more comfortable shooting with a release time lag of 0.005 second minimum and a shutter interval of 0.7 sec*

Start-up Time

Start-up time has also been reduced by 20% of the level of the previous DMC-FX9, at only 1.6 sec., which enables easy capture of the those spur-of-the-moment shots.

3 Frames per Second - MEGA BURST Consecutive Shooting

With the DMC-FX01, you can snap off consecutive shooting at 3 frames or 2 frames per second* with full resolution. The Unlimited** Consecutive Shooting function lets you keep on shooting until the memory card is full. You can take a series of shots, then choose the one you like best and delete the rest.

  • **The speed of the consecutive shooting varies depending on the memory card. The number of recordable picture depends on the memory card size, battery life, picture size, and compression.

6.37 Mega Total Pixels CCD

The DMC-FX01 images are extremely beautiful even when enlarged. The CCDs used in LUMIX models also have superior light-collecting efficiency that gives them even greater image-rendering capabilities than the specifications suggest.
