Intel® Core™2 Duo Mobile Technology used for low power consumption and high-performance

The heart of the TOUGHBOOK consists of three components: Intel® Core™2 Duo processor, Mobile Intel® GM965 Express Chipset, and Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965 AGN. Power consumption is lowered and an optimized wireless LAN function is provided to achieve the best in mobile computing.

High-density battery for long running life

Long running life is achieved by an industry top-standard high-capacity lithium ion battery pack (Y7:2,850 mAh).

Super long-life backlight system slashes power consumption

The same brightness with only about 70% the power consumption of an ordinary LCD panel is achieved using a system with a proprietary light guide plate, high-reflectivity reflector, and high-efficiency reflection sheet. Also, optimized internal materials and increased FL lamp diameter more than double the working life, which decreases the need for backlight replacement.

Power-saving off setting for drive power supply (Y7)

The Drive Power Open Switch or integrated utility software can turn the power supply to the drive on and off, thus making it possible to save unnecessary power consumption when the drive is not in use.

The switch on the front panel can turn the power supply to the drive on and off as well.

Wireless switch shuts off standby current

The Wireless switch saves power by allowing you to turn it on and off as needed. It can also be set to turn WWAN, WLAN or Bluetooth™, systems on and off at the same time. This is convenient for the kind of on/off control required in hospitals, airports, etc.
