Ruggedized

It’s not unusual to have PCs accidentally fall off a desk or to spill water on the keyboard. That’s why all models in the TOUGHBOOK/Business Mobile 7 Series have been free fall tested from 76 cm*2. Also, that’s why we’ve made them extra robust with a keyboard that is completely spill resistant*1 so that you won’t get flustered during accidental water spills. The models in this series are also able to withstand pressure, vibration, and even shock. These robust laptops lighten the risk when using a PC on the jobsite.
Bonnet style magnesium top plate
A strong, light magnesium alloy is used as the body material. Also, the top plate incorporates a “bonnet construction” in order to maintain strength at the press line, an idea we borrowed from automobile design to achieve both rigidity and light weight. This increases the ability to withstand pressure so that the LCD panel is always protected.
HighAnnular pipe structure ensures durability and lightweight
The outer edges of the LCD cabinet are constructed in a "rib-like" fashion, creating a frame that surrounds the LCD, to protect it from warping.
Floating structure for mainboard protection
To protect the high-density mainboard, the structure of the PCB resists external twisting forces.
Shock absorbing material protects hard disk
Free fall tested from 76 cm*2
Considering the average 75 cm height of a desk, 7 Series models have been free fall tested from 76 cm. While surrounding the hard disk with a shock absorbing material (damper), a low-rebound damper has also been set into the bottom of the case. Shock is physically reduced in order to protect your valuable data.
Improved PC Card Slot strength
The connection between the card and the slot has been reinforced. This design increases the card-in-slot durability by more than three times* that of conventional units.
LCD protected from the shock of falling
"Cradled" LCD display (W7)
Sides of the LCD are protruding while the opposing sides of the palm rest are recessed. The chassis engages with the LCD so that it is cradled, which effectively lowers the danger of damage if the computer is dropped.
Spill resistance keyboard*1 for reducing the risk of damaging the computer by liquid spill
The waterproof sheet under the keyboard protects all of the valuable parts in case a liquid is spilled onto the keyboard. A drain system allows the spilled liquid to be drained from an outlet on the bottom. This protects the TOUGHBOOK from liquid spills, one of the main causes of mobile PC damage.
Built in Security Chip
Built-in Security Chip (TPM)*
Powerful security is achieved since the encryption key stores on separate hardware (security chip) from the hard disk where data is stored. In the event of unauthorized access, steal or loss of the hard disk, the encryption key will not be found.
*Installation of Infineon TPM Professional Package is required to use this feature.
What is a Security Chip (TPM)*
Established by TCG (Trusted Computing Group), an organization promoting security standardization, TPM (Trusted Platform Module) is a computer chip that contains an encryption key for security and privacy protection.
*2 Carried out in Panasonic technical research lab. Dropped on to bottom (in operation-mode).
★ The shock resistance, pressure resistance, and splash-proof functions are not a guarantee against damage or malfunction.
